Greetings, It is an
abbreviation for Titel/Anmärkning, where "titel" means
title and "anmärkning" means annotation. The
information entered under that |
There has been a talk about the
Swedish alphabet The meaning is
"clearing". Other elements that mean the same is -rud, -red, -röd.
Names ending with -ryd are common in Småland, -rud names in Dalsland
and Värmland, -red names in Västergötland and -röd names in Skåne
and Bohuslän. You can access the Rötter home page on
this URL: http://www.genealogi.se/ ____________________________________ All of this talk of "v" and
"w" pronunciations brought to mind a song my Swedish
Grandfather, who immigrated to America, taught me. I have written
it as it was pronounced in English. |
| I once wrote a description about how
to search the Birth records for Malmö. It might be of some use for the other databases as well. http://www.ddss.nu/ You click at this address, and at the page you click on "Databaser" and here you scroll down to "Malmö Stadsarkiv" at the end of this page you find "Födelseböcker" and you will get the searchpage. You fill in what you know. In the first field you can choose a certain parish but you can also search all parishes in the database at the same time. Next field "Datum fr.o.m." you fill this in if you have a date or if you just have a year you can write for example 1878-%-% If you know that it had to be between some certain years you can fill in the next field "Datum t.o.m. the last possibly year here. Skip the fields "Datum avser" (if its the birth date or the baptist date) "Antal födda" (if it were twins you can fill in 2) "Dödfödd" (if the child was stillborn) "Kön" is Gender. If you want to you choose "flicka" for girl and "pojke" for boy, but you dont have to fill in this. The most important Barnets (The childs) name. Just fill in the forename, because the child isnt mentioned with a surname in the birth book. At least not very often. Do you know the fathers name or the mothers name you fill in this "förnamn" given name and efternamn "surname". Good luck Siv. Siv = wife of Tor ____________________________________________________________ |

Mac Users
| As a Mac user you need to use your "option" key. For instance ö is achieved by holding down the option key and the "u" key then type the "o". When you do that nothing appears until you type the 'o'. To get å, you hold down the option key and type the "a". ä = option and u then the a ë = option key and u then the e ü = option key and u then another u ø = option key and o é = option key and e ê = option key and i then the e â = option key i and then the a ô = option key and i then the o You get the idea. Hope this helps, Pamela Burg |
